Statement by the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise on the Report tabled by the Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development (SDIR)

The CORE welcomes the recommendation for legislation imposing human rights due diligence obligations on Canadian companies in the report tabled on June 16 by the Parliamentary Subcommittee on International Human Rights (SDIR) entitled Mandate of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise.

We note with interest the considerations to expand the powers of the CORE, and look forward to the Government of Canada’s comprehensive response to SIDR’s report.
