Privacy notice statement

The Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE), an arm’s length body of Global Affairs Canada (GAC), is committed to protecting the privacy rights of individuals. We protect the personal information that we collect following the conditions set out in Canada’s Privacy Act.

This privacy notice statement tells you how your personal information, such as your name and your contact information, is collected, used, and stored by CORE. We collect your personal information to help us understand the complaint that you are bringing to us. We may use your name and contact information to contact you for more information. We will also ask you if you agree to give us personal information that we can use for research, and to help us evaluate our work and report on it.

We are allowed to collect your personal information by the Order in Council 2019-1323. For most complaints, we will give your personal information to the Canadian company you have filed your complaint against. Please talk to us if you are worried about what may happen if we give them your personal information.  We may be able to work with your complaint anonymously, without giving anyone the personal information that would identify you.

If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you have the right to ask to see the personal information we have collected. You can also ask to correct that information if you believe there is a mistake, or that anything is missing. You may contact GAC's Access to Information and Privacy Protection at dcp@international.gc.ca to use these rights. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada about how we have handled your personal information.
