The CORE launches a new online complaint form
Ottawa, ON – June 13th, 2023 – The Office of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE) launched a new online complaint form on our website. People who file complaints will benefit from improved service delivery and added security
The new online complaint form has additional features to improve service delivery and strengthen security for those submitting complaints, including:
- Immediate referral to another organization when someone indicates that they want to complain about something happening inside Canada
- Automatic submission of the contents of the complaint form are sent to the CORE’s secure electronic case management system
- People who submit the form automatically receive a file number that will make communicating with the CORE about their complaint easier and faster
The CORE continues to work to improve its digital complaint mechanism. Upcoming improvements will include the ability to open a secure online portal account to exchange messages with the CORE and to electronically transmit documents securely, as well as more robust reporting. For the Canadian public, the CORE’s digital complaint mechanism means that Canada can better meet its commitment to providing an accessible, transparent and accountable dispute resolution mechanism to deal with possible human rights abuses arising from the operations abroad of Canadian companies in the garment, mining, and oil and gas sectors.
About the CORE
The CORE was established in 2019 with the appointment of Sheri Meyerhoffer as the Ombudsperson or Ombud. The CORE is the first ombud in the world with a business and human rights mandate as well as the only ombud to hold Canadian garment, mining, and oil and gas companies accountable for human rights abuses that arise from their operations, including their supply chains, outside of Canada.
